Adjunct, Dance Teacher, Aug 2009 – June 2011

  • Taught modern, jazz, and tap to beginning students, as well as performing arts students.

  • Choreographed dances for recitals, student productions, as well as main-stage productions. Mentored students in developing performances.

Staff, Assistant Technical Director, Jan 2008 – June 2011

  • Assisted in all technical aspects (set, lights, sound, props) of over 12 university productions.

  • Responsible for regular maintenance of the theatre facilities.

  • Managed theatre for rental groups, including design meetings, space preparation, event operation, and invoicing/billing.

  • Worked successfully in coordination with all levels of university personnel (ranging from students to the university President).

  • Successful experience with crisis management and multi-tasking.  

  • Partially responsible for student-worker management and supervision.

Research

Dissertation Research

Principle Researcher, Mar 2017 — Dec 2021

  • Developed and conducted an interview-based study with a group of seven participants regarding the dancer’s lived experience of work-life transition out of performance. Data was collected using the qualitative methods of portraiture and body stories. Through this methodological combination, the research ultimately painted Embodied Narrative Portraits of the specific challenges faced by dancers when they make a complex work-life transition.

Research Assistant, Choreographer, Dec 2017 – June 2018

  • Participant in a collaborative process of co-creating a spoken-word- and-movement performance based on existing data from a study on the embodied experience of oppression.  Focusing on analyzing data through movement, and using movement to convey a different (somatic) layer of information.
